The 2018 Unpacking of Xmas Lies

Friends, at Xmas Season last year (2017), I've said the LNP Government had thrown at us with two packets of lies. On which, I have noted:

"(I) The possible resettlement of the 200 asylum-seekers to the United States as early as mid-January 2018 [#2]. This is clearly a media spin, that feeds positive news about offshore asylum-seekers, aiming at the Christmas time. We don't have to wait too long though, that media 'Spin' is going to be hit by 'Something'. And I will be the most joyous person, IF it's proved I am wrong!

(II) The Government's blatant statistical fudge about the asylum-seekers at offshore [#3]. Look at page 4 of the ABF report and see that how our government has been so desperate! There are NOT a single person in Manus Island detention now; the 690 asylum-seekers super magically disappeared from our offshore detention list. This blatant mis-representation is unprecedented in any context and, the sly work un-matched even by Centrelink/Australian Bureau of Statistics reporting of unemployment figures in Australia!"

For the first packet, from the outset (Nov, 2016), the observations from all seasoned activists had been that the US/Aus refugee swap deal was a 'fake'; & that Obama Administration had never agreed upon such transfer. We all were aware about that infamous Trump-Turnbull phone exchanges on early 2017, transcript revealed by Washington Post in August 2017. By then we -- activists -- starting to realize things are not quite right, I suppose. But the mass media here in Australia kept promoting US/Aus refugee deal as a viable one. By mid-July 2018, we became aware that the Australian Government had been sending Manus/Nauru refugees to United States under a 'private sponsorship', as opposed to a government-to-government transfer arrangements. In August, PM Turnbull had resigned.

Thanks for the Flaunt!

LNP's primary intention about US/Aus deal was to buy more time for its detention facilities offshore, of course. In addition to that, by implicating Americans or flaunting the "USA card", LNP is trying to silence the opposition and its detractors (i.e us). As you see, I've never believed it as government level deal (& I was right!). But, right or wrong not so much matter, we should still be thankful for that "USA Connexion Flaunt", which see us about 230 Manus/Nauru refugees to freedom. Thanks, but you LNP mob won't be pardoned for your crime!

Second pack of lie, the Manus refugees are now "not in detention", would seem some truth in it; refugees now can somehow walk freely around their neighbourhood. But does this "not in detention" really matter ? These refugees are still in the condition of "slavery", of which Australian and PNG authorities had "severely deprived" them of their "liberty". That lie may make some ease on criticism over "detention", but nothing to escape LNP Government from slavery charges!

Friends, some positive things I can at least say about this Xmas season 2018 have been that "1). The Elephant is now OUT" and "2). Two Packets of Lies Unwrapped"; And 3). the LNP Government had not put out any new packet of lie over this Xmas. We can look forward to a busy new year 2019. -- Regards, NetIPR.
